4th Amendment case

In the case Mapp vs Ohio in 1961, The Supreme Court extended the restrictions of the fourth amendment to all the state governments. Prior to this, it only applied to the fedral government. The cleveland police had heard a rumor that Dollree Mapp was harboring a suspected bombing futigive so they went to her house and demanded entry. She refused to let them in because they did not have a warrant. They ignored her and brought more officers to break open the door. She then demanded to see a search warrant and they showed her a piece of paper claiming it to be a warrant. they cuffed her feet and searched the house for the fugitive. They did not find him, but they found obscene materials such as pornographic comic books. Mapp said it was left by her previous tenant but they arrested her for possesion of obscene material.
